If you are a Korean kid raised in the 80′s you HAD to get a perm. I don’t know why, but Korean parents were obsessed (even possessed) to perm their kid’s hair. I was already an unpopular kid and the perm did not help.
But what made this already embarrassing situation worse is how my mom convinced me to get a perm. My mom loved the movie “Annie” and she wanted to give her two sons a perm like hers. Knowing we were boys, she knew we won’t consent to it. So! She came up with a devious plan. She told us a story… a very convincing story. She said Asians have thin hairs (true) but it’s too thin and we would go bald if we don’t perm our hair at least once in our life time. Of course, we didn’t want to bald so we permed our hair immediately, and hence the picture below. The irony of all this? I am currently 33 years old, and I am super bald. Thanks mom… seriously, thanks… (T.T)

@Jean: hahaha, Koreans don’t go bald ;) Yeah, I’m soooo bald right now. I kinda look like Golem from the Lord of the Rings with small eyes. Thank God my gf likes me for my inner beauty… what inner beauty, I always ask her ;)
LOL! Asians with perms! You look supa cool, the kids in your school were just jealous, ignore the haterz, you should rock a perm again! Granted, it’d have to be a wig, but you should SO rock it man!
In the NorthWest of England in the late ’80s it was popular to have a male Pony Tail! Glad I only ever had it once, and it was only small!
