LIPS

(13″ x 16″, Screen Print)

Since the whole process of burning and washing multiple screens take a lot of time, I decided to do a print using only one screen. I printed the same screen three times using different techniques and here’s what I came up with.

BICYCLE DRAWING

(Ink)

Bikes were the main transportation to get around in Japan and I had this foldable bike that I used to ride everywhere in Osaka. Here’s an oldschool freehand ink drawing (well not quite 100% freehand since I used a ruler) of my bike that I did back in highschool. It still looks fresh today especially now that I draw a lot on the lightbox for more convenient and faster drawings.

HUMAN GEOMETRY

(22″ x 27.5″, Screen Print & Acrylic)

I always thought geometry, being very perfect and constructive, is a nice contrast to our human body, which is more organic and free. Even though both concepts are very different visually and aesthetically, they work very well together so here’s a piece that I came up with. The title should be self-explanatory and is called “Human Geometry.”

MAN MADE TEE

There was a T-shirt design contest for Brooklyn Industries last month and here’s what I came up with. My inspiration came from the story about Roy Jones Jr. raising cocks for cockfighting. It was interesting because cocks are not naturally fighters but they fight because humans train them. I thought war is similar to cockfighting because it’s man made. As you can see, I have a very dark sense of humor… hehehe…

POKA DOT GIRL TEE

(Discharge Print)

After watching an hour long DVD on how to do a discharge print, I did my first discharge screen print on a T-shirt. If there’s anything I missed in the process of discharge printing, I didn’t mix the discharge base, agent, and pigment ink properly because I didn’t have a digital measuring scale. The proper mix is supposed to have 6% of discharge agent and 10% of pigment ink but I just guessed it with my eye. I guess that’s why the image didn’t turn out bright white but it still looks good because it looks vintage (my excuse for any mistakes I make hahaha!!!). Well, I don’t think it turned out too bad for my first time.

TIFFANY TEE

Eugenieland and her husband safely returned to Cali and they sent me this photo!!! It’s really nice to see her wear the T-shirt next to Tiffany. Tiffany is the dog’s name by the way. Thanks for the photo! Also click here to see the actual T-shirt design.

HELL’S ANGEL

(Pencil)

I was digging through my old archive and found this pencil drawing I did for Avirex 4 years ago. During this time, the trend for skulls and anything dark was at its peak. I was getting sick of drawing skulls so I thought of something different… a sexy, bad girl! God, forgive me for my wicked ways.

TIFFANY T-SHIRT DESIGN

(Screen Print)

My friend Eugenieland saw me make a birthday T-shirt for my boy with his dog Chester on it (click here to see) and wanted me to make one for her too. Since she’s visiting New York next week, I decided to print it this weekend. I did some test prints on some paper and this is what it looks like. By the way, this image of Tiffany sent by Eugenieland was taken at some dog contest. Thanks for the inspiration!

CHRIS GHOST PORTRAIT

I always thought cloaks were cool because it made you look mysterious, so I decided to give myself a cloak and make a self-portrait.

SAGI-NO-IKE HEIKURO WRESTLING A GIANT SNAKE

(Acrylic paint)

The original woodblock print “Sagi-no-ike Heikuro wrestling a giant snake” (1834-1835) by Kuniyoshi (1797-1861) has been transformed from woodblocks to tattoos and various mediums throughout history. Here’s my remix of the classic woodblock print into a more modern, graphic approach.

BLACK OPS PLAYERCARD

Lately, I’ve been playing a lot of Black Ops on my PS3. I unlocked all the layers to fully edit my playercard and here’s what I came up with. The challenge was to use the limited images they have to create something.

POSTER FOR ADVENT WEEK

(Spraypaint, Gold Ink, & Screen Print)

So this week is advent week and I made a poster based on the passage Isaiah 7:10-16 (10 Again the Lord spoke to Ahaz, saying, 11 Ask a sign of the Lord your God; let it be deep as Sheol or high as heaven. 12 But Ahaz said, I will not ask, and I will not put the Lord to the test. 13 Then Isaiah said: “Hear then, O house of David! Is it too little for you to weary mortals, that you weary my God also? 14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Look, the young woman is with child and shall bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel. 15 He shall eat curds and honey by the time he knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good. 16 For before the child knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land before whose two kings you are in dread will be deserted.)
