I’m starting to appreciate Tofu more. I decided to give a Korean twist to a popular Japanese dish, Yu tofu.
Ingredients:
1) Medium to Firm Tofu
2) Dashi *either pre-made or make your own
3) Seaweed Salad
4) Nori
5) Seasame Seed
6) Negi (green onions)
7) Red Pepper
8) Sugar
9) Sesame Oil
Procedure:
1) Prepare the Chili Sauce. Dice the green onions, and mix it with water, dashi, red pepper, sugar, and sesame oil. Set it aside.
2) Boil Tofu in Dashi until it gets slightly brown on the outside. *This adds subtle taste to the plain tofu.
3) Take the tofu out, and top it with the chili sauce, seaweed salad, nori, and sesame seeds.

So… here’s the result of my first making of tofu.
It looks like shit, and it taste like shit.
So, I think here’s where it went wrong. First of all, the cheese cloth I used was too porous, and it didn’t effectively separate the soy milk from the pudding. Secondly, and the likely cause of this utter failure, is that I used too much lemon juice. Lemon Juice is used as a coagulator, but I added too much… making this tofu taste like saturated lemon flavored soy piece of shit. I mean, look at this shit. I looks freakin’ yellow.
Oh well… better luck next time…

I have no freakin’ idea how to make a tofu, but that is the quest. Looking beyond and far is overwhelming… discouraging… and even hopeless. But it shouldn’t blind us from the steps we need to take. Take the first strong step. Don’t be afraid of what lies ahead of you, but be afraid of losing yourself and the possibility if you HAVEN’T HAD taken that step… all this over a TOFU? hahaha.
Went online, and found the following video clip. (there’s no dog this time, haha)
Pretty well made instructional video clip. Anyways, but it turns out that I need the following crucial items:
1. Soy Bean
2. Wooden (or plastic) mold
3. Cheese cloth
4. Lemon Juice, Nigari, or Edible Calcium Sulfate as coagulator.
Okay… where the heck do I find them? Anyways, I just blindly left home crossing my fingers.
…..
Yes! I found most of the items!!!

soybean.

wooden tofu maker mold.
That’s it for today. Tomorrow is my first attempt to make tofu! Here I come, baby! :)
